Dr. Leon Edward Rondenet, Jr, a longtime resident of Glenview, IL, peacefully passed away in Crystal Lake, IL on 2/08/2014. He was a devoted husband for 69 years to Mary Anita Rondenet (nee Gerber) and the proud father of Leon Edward, John, Bill and Mimi Rondenet (Vieth), three granddaughters and four great grandchildren, all who will miss him. Dr. Rondenet, "Doc", provided the North Shore and Chicago with caring and expert eye care for almost 60 years on Central Street in Evanston, IL. His legacy in the profession of Optometry is continued by his friend and former business partner Dr. Millicent Knight of North Shore Eye Care Center in Evanston. He was a proud Army veteran of World War II, serving in India for 3 years. Doc was an accomplished golfer and loved to play on the courses of Glenview, IL and Friendship, WI where he and Mary Anita ("Neen") had a second home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Edward (born in Paris, France) and Laurette (nee Kohler) Rondenet of Chicago, and his brother Eugene Rondenet of Elk Grove Village, IL.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service 1:00 p.m. at Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home, 8025 W. Golf Road in Niles. Interment Private.
