At a time when many funeral homes are being bought and sold by large corporations, Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Homes prides itself on being family owned and operated. The funeral homes were established nearly a century ago in the small ethnic Chicago neighborhood of Bucktown by Joseph Wojciechowski Sr. Today, Joseph Sr.'s grandsons, Jody and Mark Wojciechowski run the family business. They have brought Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Homes a long way from its early beginnings as a horse livery service to a well respected funeral home serving all cultures, faiths and religions.
Both Jody and Mark realize they would not be able to carry on the traditions and standards originally set by their grandfather if it were not for the dedication of their entire staff. Al Ostrowski has been part of the funeral home family since 1994. Karen Bruli has worked in the nursing and E.M.T. fields prior to becoming a funeral director. Her life experiences add a unique quality to our staff. Stephanie Brown joined our staff in 2022. She has been a funeral direcxtor for more than 20 years. This group of dedicated employees generally works at the Chicago location and is overseen by Mark Wojciechowski.
Jody Wojciechowski oversees the Niles location. Alongside of him is Brad Rushton. Brad also came to Colonial after having worked at a corporate owned funeral home. He has been involved in funeral service since 1980 and has been serving at the Niles location since 1992. The cultural needs of the Korean community are handled by licensed funeral director Tom Suh of Hankook Funeral Services. Our Jewish families are serviced by our associate Rudy Lerner of Chesed v’ Emet and our Greek families are serviced by our associate Nicholas Pishos.
